Green Tea
Green tea is known for its anti-cancer properties. It also healthily affects
metabolic processes, promoting the breakdown of fats. This non-fermented
beverage is the best option to finish your meal with. Drinking 5 cups of green
tea per day supposedly burns 70-80 calories.
Chicha is a term used in some regions of Latin American for
several varieties of fermented and non-fermented beverages, often derived from
maize. It sometimes referred to as Corn Beer. While brewing real corn beer may
be to difficult and time consuming. Here is a non-alcoholic version.
Chicha morada
Chicha morada is not
fermented. It is usually made of ears of purple maize (maĆz morado)
which are boiled with pineapple rind, cinnamon, and clove. This gives a strong
purple-colored liquid which is then mixed with sugar and lemon. This beverage
is usually taken as a refreshment, but in recent years many health benefits of
purple corn have been found.[3] Chicha morada is Peruvian and is generally drunk
as an accompaniment to food.
Malta
Malta (also called young beer, children's beer, or
wheat soda) is a type of soft drink. It is a carbonated malt beverage, meaning
it is brewed from barley, hops, and water much like beer; corn and caramel color may also be added. However, malta is
non-alcoholic, and is consumed in the same way as soda or cola in its
original carbonated form, and to some extent, iced tea in non-carbonated form.
In other words, malta is actually
a beer that has not been fermented. It is similar in color to stout (dark brown) but is very sweet, generally
described as tasting like molasses. Unlike
beer, ice is often added to malta when consumed. A popular way Latin Americans
sometimes drink malta is by mixing it with condensed or evaporated milk.
mosto
mosto for the fresh, non-fermented sugar cane juice. As
a further differentiation, retailers use mosto
helado (ice-cold mosto) to refer to the non-industrial, ready-to-drink,
road-side, or bar variety.
Tea
Tea is an aromatic beverage commonly prepared by pouring boiling hot water
over cured leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The term also refers to the plant itself.
After water, tea is
the most widely consumed beverage in the world.[3] It has a cooling, slightly bitter, astringent flavour which many people enjoy
Malta
Malta drink is a non-alcoholic beverage common in the the
Caribbean and Latin America. It is basically unfermented wort.
Traditionally, since this was treated as a foodstuff, no adjuncts were added.
However, all commercial examples I could find, both in the US and in Cuba now
contain Sugar of some kind, generally Molasses but also Cane Sugar.
Historically, malta was used as food for children and the sick and has since
become a mainstream beverage. Of course, the other soft drink companies have
taken market share from Malta, but it is still a very popular drink.

Production of non-fermented
beverage from ripe banana
Dehydrated, pulverized ripe banana slices (cv. Gros Michel)
were extracted with water, flavoured and pasteurized. Sensory panelists rated
the beverage highly for its appearance, thirst-quenching ability and taste. The
beverage contained 3.75% vitamin A, 2.08% riboflavin and 3.50% ascorbic acid.
Significant differences were observed in the moisture, crude fat, protein,
starch, total sugar, reducing sugar and amylose contents of the peel and pulp
of ripe and overripe fruits.
